‘Bread Faces’ is an exploration about change in the passing of time. I’m using bread as the medium and the metaphor for ephemeral things in the present moment. Bread will crack, wrinkle, mold with age, and eventually disintegrate.
I’ve started using photography to record the progress of the bread faces and have found that the photographic images in themselves have become a significant part of the conversation.
Bread Face Photos: These are enlarged close-ups of the Bread Faces mounted on cradled panels. My intent is to focus on the personalities and the textures of the bread faces. These photos record a slice of time in their process of decomposition. Liquitex gloss varnish, hand brushed, minor imperfections.
