This quick poem is a response to people saying my work is dark. Upon reflection, I can see their point but still it surprises me each time someone says it.

My Art Is Not Dark
Age and wrinkles are not dark
Saliva, aged hands, genitalia
lustfulness, cracked lips, scars…
Not dark
Making faces, being a character
Taking pictures, creating art.
All abundantly light.
Harrumph!
